High School Credits for being a Cadet

Cooperative Education Fact Sheet

Cadets may qualify to earn High School credits through the Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition program authorized by the Ontario Ministry of Education for learning and work they have done through local headquarters training (LHQ) and summer training. Specifically, the cadet program lends itself to cadets earning the Grade 11 Leadership and Peer Support credit.

Attached you will find details on how Cadets can apply to demonstrate the skills required for this course. The application process is different for each District School Board, but normally starts with the schools guidance department. The onus is on the Cadet to apply. This in itself is leadership.

This opportunity is a great tool to recognize the efforts made by Cadets. Generally speaking, cadets who have served 3 years or more, who are in Grade 11 and successfully completed an Instructors level course may apply.

For more information, see fact sheets below. The Ontario Ministry of Education web site is also a good resource for school administrators.
